How to Make A Melt and Pour Soap The Basics

A Simple Melt and Pour Soap

This is a basic tutorial to make melt and pour soap. You can use clear or white soap base.
A liquid colorant will give you a pastel color and the clear soap base will give you a stained glass effect. If you are just starting to make melt and pour soap start with this small amount so you can see how different soaps, colorants and fragrances react with other. You'll save yourself some money and time by starting with smaller simpler batches and working up to larger more complex soaps.

1. Cut up 4oz of a melt and pour soap base into 1/2 inch chunks.
2. Put into a microwavable measuring cup and microwave in 15 second increments.
3. Don't get the soap too hot. There still may be some small unmelted pieces, just stir until all
pieces are melted.
4. Add a liquid colorant for soap. Start with one or two drops and stir. Add more for deeper color.
5. Using a dropper, stir in 4-5 drops of fragrance oil. Be sure to use a slow stir.
6. Pour into a 4 oz soap mold. If you have any bubbles, spritz them with rubbing alcohol.
7. Allow to set for 6 hours. Remove from mold.
